Cor Geal Choir Supports SHF
The renowned Cork choir Cor Geal has generously agreed to perform a series of carol services in support of the work of SHF.
Proceeds from these magical events will help to improve the lives of children in Africa.
We are very greatful for this sdisplay of generosity.
Cór Geal was founded by its conductor & musical director, Betty Fitzgerald in 2009.
It is a 4-part mixed choir of some 55 adults based in Whitechurch, Co. Cork. It’s varied and uplifting repertoire includes Irish, sacred, popular, jazz, classical and contemporary music. Cór Geal has become renowned for its exciting and popular choral concert productions presented every two years.
Over the last 14 years, Cór Geal has raised thousands of euro for charity and has enjoyed much success in choral competition. Activities carried out in the choir include rehearsing, performing, travelling, and generally having a good time together. Cór Geal adds to the diversity and social inclusion of community life, provides musical education for members, and is happy to sing anywhere from the local Church to the Cork Opera House.
Betty Fitzgerald Musical Director – “Nothing activates as many areas of the brain as music. Singing is a stimulating experience which triggers all sorts of positive energy in the mind and body, and social interaction is the best way to shake off the blues. Put it all together, and you get Cór Geal singing at its best.
“With a spirit of togetherness, we value and respect diversity, create a positive and fun experience for our members and most of all promote harmony in our community and wider society”.

The roof has been completed and the septic tank has been lined and covered with slab. Construction of the water tower and drainage is ongoing and electrical work is set to start soon. The fabrication of steel doors, steel windows, metal railings and shelves for the installation of the solar batteries is already in progress. The road is a nightmare for now as two attempts made trying to convey materials failed. A week ago, we loaded a truck with cement to be transported to the site but it got stuck on the way and took three days before it could be removed. We had to use motor bikes to transport the cement from the point where it got stuck to the building site in fear of it getting damaged.
